Project Background
Route 46 is a major East-West arterial road in New Jersey. The roadway sees significant vehicle usage and has outdated traffic signals. The purpose of the project is to improve the safety of the Route 46 corridor between Rock Hill Road and Money Street for all road users.
Proposed improvements include:
Four intersections with traffic signal upgrades:
Mola Boulevard
5th Street/Jefferson Avenue
Saddle Brook Mall
Westminster Place
Filling sidewalk gaps with approximately 3,000 linear feet of new sidewalk
New or reconstructed curb ramps at approximately 110 locations
Replacing guide rail totaling approximately 15,000 linear feet
Providing horizontal curve signage at approximately 36 ramps
Paving and resurfacing where needed

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), which is committed to developing transportation improvements that best balance transportation needs, the environment, community concerns and cost, is holding a Virtual Public Information Center to inform residents and businesses of the proposed Route 46, Rock Hill Road to Money Street Limited Scope Intersection Improvements Project.
